Facebook News Launched in the U.S.

Facebook News is the new section on the Facebook platform dedicated to news. Only available in the United States since June 10, 2020, this feature should provide access to national or local news depending on where you live. Before that, Facebook tested Instant Articles, a format directly hosted on the platform that limited advertising. Since the algorithm has evolved to the benefit of accounts rather than pages, many publishers have abandoned this feature and gradually abandoned Facebook. 


Sony unveils PlayStation 5 design

Sony has unveiled the final design of its next console, the PlayStation 5. Expected at the end of the year, the PlayStation 5 will be available in two versions, a classic model and a 100% digital model. This second model will not have an optical drive and will therefore only be able to launch games downloaded via the PlayStation Store.


New plans for global FIFA 20 esports competitions

Electronic Arts (EA) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announce a larger, evolved EA Sports FIFA 20 esports ecosystem. New leagues and recurring football league tournaments as well as online tournaments are added to replace the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series including the FIFA eWorld Cup. EA will continue to award $200,000 in prizes to participants who have qualified for FUT Champions Cup Stage VI.


WhatsApp launches payments in Brazil

After months of talks and trials, WhatsApp  has finally pulled the trigger on payments in its app. Today the messaging service announced that users in Brazil would be the first to be able to send and receive money by way of its messaging app, using Facebook Pay. WhatsApp has been used informally for commercial purposes almost from the very start. But under the wing of Facebook, the company started the big task of bringing in a more formal set of business services.
